Historic working farm. See how life would have been like on a farm at the turn of the the 20the century. As seen in the BBC series. Members of the production company, film crew and presenters have stayed at Victoria House during the filming. Skills and traditions are preserved and working as in the 1890s, you can watch craftspeople at work throughout the seasons from rearing of rare and traditional stock, including Shire horses to milling corn and baking bread, ploughing fields and steam threshing.
Victoria House guests are entitled to a discounted admittance.

The Longmynd, Caradoc, Lawley, Ragleth, Helmeth etc.
You can walk out of Victoria House, walk through St Lawrence's church yard then through to Rectory Fields. Keep walking upwards and within 15 mins(depending on your walking ability) you'll be on the Longmynd. Acres and acres of beautiful surroundings to walk, cycle or ride and enjoy during your stay. Visit Cardingmill valley, run by the National Trust and also less known valleys such as Batch, Gog and Ashes.
We are within an area of ANOB, much of the area is managed by the National Trust. You can join walking parties or venture off on your own. There are plenty of maps and published routes to choose from. Church Stretton is now a Walkers Welcome town and Victoria House has been awarded the Visit Britain Walkers and Cyclists welcome award.
Victoria House had a lovely mention in the Country Walking Magazine when two employees of the magazine stayed with us when the featured the Longmynd in one of their publications.

Victoria House is situated in High Street- right in the centre. There are just 2 main streets in Church Stretton, Sandford Avenue and High Street. We have banks, a post office and supermarket. Small and friendly, individually, privately run shops, lots of cafes and pubs. Visit the huge antiques entre and art gallery. We have a good train service and local bus service. During the summer months the shuttle bus will take you to surrounding villages and places of interest, including the Longmynd and Stiperstones. We also have local taxi firms. Church Stretton Golf club is one of the highest situated in the UK commanding fantastic views.
Horse riding, fishing, cycling, gliding and of course walking can all be arranged from Victoria House. Electric cyles are now available for hire locally. Visit the magnificent 900 year old Ludlow Castle. Steeped in history through the centuries. Fantastic drama and musical performances held in the castle during Ludlow festival held every summer. Ludlow has some lovely individual shops and is now famous for its restaurants. Also visit markets, including the farmers market. Vicitoria House is a member of "Local to Ludlow" using local produce whenever we can.

Interesting town split into 2 levels. Take the funicular railway from one to the other, the steepest and shortest in England.
Severn Valley Railway, let the steam take the strain and enjoy the Shropshire countryside from a differnect aspect.
Visit Dudmaston Hall near Bridgnorth, a lovely National Trust property
